So here’s the situation. I have a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 with about 90,000. It’s been a great truck, but this week of all weeks, after a 700 mile drive down to Florida, on the last day I’m here, my back right brake just made the most horrific noise pulling into the hotel. Sounded like a jet flying over. After investigating further, my back right wheel is covered in tiny metal shavings. Front of the rotor looks good, so I’m assuming the inside, side of the rotor is going metal to metal. Front brake pads and rotors are brand new, other back brake is decent, but that back right is gone. Gone gone.

Here’s the problem though. If I caught it earlier in the week, I would’ve bitten the bullet, and replaced the rotors, disc’s, and potentially calipers on the back just to get it over with…but it happened today. A Sunday. All mechanics around me were closed, and I have a 700 mile trip back tomorrow.

Being one brake, no rain in the forcast on the way up, and all highways on the way back, I’m feeling OK about it, but just wanted to see your guys thoughts on limping this thing home to a mechanic.

Side note: I replaced these pads about 20,000 miles ago and they’re already gone. New rotor and calipers right coming my way right?
