This was what I was expecting to happen last week coming out of the Bye. Better late than never.
And… if teams have to scheme for him, that leads to Kelce getting fewer double teams. Just like on the d-line — one player’s success helps all of the others. Karlaftis doesn’t get his sacks and pressures without CJ absorbing double teams.
Guess this past game was close to it, but really looking for that Rashee Rice breakout performance. A 2 TD 120 yard performance where he just grabs everything that comes his direction.
Still has stuff to clean up regarding his rout running, hopefully he’ll be able to work on that over the offseason. But getting that breakout performance might also give him the confidence to be that other weapon we need on offense to draw attention away from Kelce.
Any remotely competent defense can lock down one guy, no matter how good, if he’s your only good option. But if you can at least have two legitimate options, it become more difficult.
Yeah I remember when people said this about Toney. Only time will tell but so far rice is very inconsistent and there are far better rookies balling out like tank dell or jordan addison, puka or zay flowers.
Loved that he said in the post game press he’s been proving the type of routes he excelled with in college! Give Mahomes some options!
