Decided to go back and see what the point differential has been for the Spurs this year and how it compares to previous years and history in general.
- Basically we are in uncharted territory. This year, the average point differential for the Spurs in the 3rd quarter has been -6.7, by far the worst in the NBA. Second worst is Washington at -3.7.
- Over the last 20 years, the worst 3rd quarter margin has ranged between -2 to -3.8, so chances are there will be some regression to the mean for the Spurs as the season wears on.
- Even the worst year I saw the worst team was -3.9 sometime in the aughts.
