I’m looking to acquire the components to build an Onkyo system as close to what I can remember my father having. His system was likely from the late 80s, possibly early 90s. It sat in a wood cabinet with matching wood floor speakers that were either maple or oak and around 3’ tall. From looking around online and what I remember from 20+ years ago, it looks like the amp he had was a TX-840. I remember his system could be heard several houses down while he was listening to Pink Floyd, so it could put out good volume. Does this sound like the right receiver possibly? If so, does anyone have a list of model numbers for the record player, tuner, dual cassette player, and 5 or 6 (I don’t recall for sure, but thinking 5) CD changer to match this amp? Any idea what speakers he likely had?
