Refs were awful, but we were terrible in situational football today.

  1. 12 men on the field for a punt resulting in an unnecessary timeout

  2. Not simply doing a QB sneak twice or running the ball twice on 3rd and 1 and then throwing a terrible deep ball when it was 4th and 1

  3. CJ taking 2 bad sacks in the final drive

  4. CJ not simply running for 5-6 extra yards on 3rd down to give our kicker a real chance of making a game tying field goal

I’m not worried about CJ, but he needs to start taking the yards with his legs instead of hoping something opens up because that only happens so often. Stroud is a great QB, but sometimes running for 4-5 yards and sliding is the right thing to do.

Definitely some learning opportunities for CJ following this one. Criticism about him not taking free yards with his legs has been consistent since his time at Ohio State. Overall, just too many sloppy mistakes to overcome a good Jags team and terrible penalty calls from the refs. This is the kind of game the team needs to learn from if they are going to take the next step. I trust Coach Ryans to get this cleaned up. I wish I could say the same thing about the NFL w/r/t to the refs.

Did Houston-Carson interfere with the receiver in the end zone on the first PI call? I saw the play and the replay and I couldn’t see the PI. It’s the one play that has me questioning what I saw on the field today.

There was one where the player did grab the jersey before the ball was thrown when the in-stadium replay was shown. Felt like it was more so defensive holding though.

The first call where it was an out route didn’t have any pass interference.
