OFFENSE:
• Offense looks totally revamped. Finally feels like the Daboll bills again mixing in plenty of runs to keep the D honest, going under center and not shotgun every play (fuck you Dorsey shotgun draw plays), mixing in play action and putting josh where he performs best by rolling out. Huge props to Brady incorporating scheme and strategic improvements that were obvious to so many ppl all year besides bills coaching it seemed.
• Josh Allen is a fucking legend. Not all year and has certainly made his share of boneheaded decisions throughout the season. But today’s version of josh was almost impeccable. You can frown upon that pick all you want but it did hit the receiver in the chest before being ripped out by Bradberry. All in all my confidence in Josh has skyrocketed since the OC change.
• Gabe looked like AFC divisional game vs Chiefs today. Very happy for him cause I already lost faith in him wholeheartedly this year. His miscommunication on that last throw with Josh definitely sucks but we don’t know the route and thus whose at fault really.
• For all the diva bullshit with Diggs he sure drops alot of passes. At least 2 today I believe and many more in the games prior. I’m sure Trevon won’t pipe in tonight though.
DEFENSE:
• Hard to pin down my feelings on the defense. On one hand they dominated the Jets (I know whatever but still) and made the Eagles look pedestrian in the first half. The 2nd half of this game was like I was reading a completely different book. We collapsed during the most important moments and it wasn’t even on officiating that half. The eagles chewed away at us slowly grinding away first downs eventually scoring TDs in almost all their scoring plays. The last TD on 3rd and 15th is absolutely inexcusable. It almost felt like a mini Hail Murray again.
• Despite STILL being on a pitch count Von continues to not show up. You can’t even find him on the stat sheet today. Everything every non bills fan said about how dumb that contract was is aging like fine wine.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• No real complaints about special teams today except for Bass. Won’t blame him on the first miss but that second one was absolutely costly with the benefit of hindsight.
GAME MANAGEMENT
• Officiating had it out for us in the first half and I’m not totally sure why. Think it was 9 penalties to 1 by halftime and so many of those 9 were soft as grapes. We did get a soft call with the Josh roughing call on the final regulation drive and honestly overall I’m not going to harp on officiating turning the needle on the final outcome of this one. Some may but I won’t.
• Also unlike most I don’t hate the kneel down on with 20 sec left and one timeout. Yes I know it was in the realm of possibility to get into FG range but their kicker just made a 60 yarder in heavy rain. One mistake in those 20 seconds and all of a sudden Eagles are in range to Reverse Uno our attempt for a game winner.
• Another comment I’ve seen alot is about milking the clock on our last TD. In my opinion when you’re down by more than a FG you can’t just play around like it’s some sure thing. You’re down. You need a TD. Punch it in when the opportunity presents itself and we did. The offense gave you the lead it’s up to the defense to hold it.
• Despite my support for the management of today’s game I’m very much starting to jump on the fire Mcd bandwagon. He’s a great coach and can dominate a game but in the big moments he folds and folds and folds over and over. His defense looked soft as fuck that OT TD drive when we needed them not to be the most. I kept screaming “blitz them blitz them!” during the eagles last 2 drives and we continued to not only rush 4 but still give up easy completions on the most important downs.
This concludes my TED talk. Let me know your thoughts, opposing or not
I can’t blame this on McD when we left at LEAST 10 points on the field. The game never should have been close if we actually finished out one of our many stalled drives near the 40. Obviously the way the game ended was inexcusable but with the way the defense played in the first half and the chances the offense had makes me blame Bass and the offense (and the refs ofc)
I agree. The whole kneeling thing with 20secs is dumb. We’re playing the what if game now. It’s a high risk high reward. And it’s moot if Gabe caught that td. It’s weird that ppl look Sean in this game and doresy in the Denver game. Now the 12 men on the field okay that is a less forgivable thing.
