I Remember When I Played Resident Evil 8: Village And The Second Time I Died It Said, “Do You Want To Switch To Light Difficulty.” I Had Only Died Twice And It Insulted Me For That. It Was Incredibly Funny But I Couldn’t But Help But Feel Like I Sucked Even Though It Was Only The Second Death.

Almost all shooters from early to mid 90’s had some kind of insult in the exit Game prompt when you had to confirm you want to exit the Game, or some in the difficult selection screen (wolfenstein, rise of the Triad, Doom, Quake and many more)

In Styx Shards Of Darkness, every time you die, Styx says something usually insulting

“How about this, I’ll come out there and take the controller. And you come in here and die… painfully!”

“News flash, the jump button is not located between your ass cheeks! Or maybe it is for you, I don’t know”

“Order in an extra large pepperoni pizza with extra cheese, please! This is gonna take some time”

““You are dead…” NO! I am dead! You’ll be out getting laid soon! Wait. Lean in closer to the screen. Hmmm. Maybe not”
