AP has never been a coordinator on either side of the ball, and most free agent offensive coordinators are looking for head coaching jobs first, so it feels like getting an elite one to come work under a linebackers coach with no coordinator experience might be difficult (they’d argue they should be the coach)
With AP being naturally defensive-minded, I think it’s safe to say the OC on an AP staff would have full top to bottom control of the offense. They will be fully remaking and reinstalling the system, calling the plays, making the personnel decisions, etc. The Raiders can’t afford to miss on this.
So assuming the elite OC’s are off the table, is anyone out there that might be interesting? Keep in mind this person has to be someone who won’t get a head coaching offer or downright doesn’t want a head coaching job.
I’m sure the GM would be advising AP on where to go with the OC position. Bo is probably still working with JMcD’s playbook. And will probably later have an opportunity to show he can develop his own playbook and implement it. One major problem with getting an up and coming offensive genius for OC is if they do well, they’ll leave for an HC gig. And the search for another is an issue again.

Really good OC’s want to be head coaches, the main exception is OC’s who have already been head coaches and sucked at it and unlikely to get another shot
The Raiders have to completely revamp the offensive system because they fired an offensive minded coach whose system wasn’t working. It places elevated importance on our next OC, they won’t really be working “under” anyone as AP isn’t an offense guy.
It limits our OC choices - we need a guy who will be there for at least 3-4 years. Our offensive personnel haven’t had any stability, our offensive line will need to be rebuilt around the scheme.
