I don’t know why I come into every season with some expectations of the team finally clicking, but it never does. For the past few seasons I’ve been very excited for the season and then very let down. This season has been the same for me, and I think many others. You can see the number of live-posters in the game threads dwindle drastically as the season continues.
The team just doesn’t work. AKME killed this team in the name of “continuity”. We have few draft picks and we have no valuable assets besides Alex Caruso. We could have traded our players last season at the trade deadline but we were one of only two teams that did not make a single move then. Now the players we wanted to trade have lost their value and are not-so-quietly quitting. Reports keep coming out that nobody wants to trade for Lavine.
Billy Donovan has been “on the hot seat” for a season and a half at this point and AKME still has not drafted anyone worthwhile. The signings they did make were initially exciting but they haven’t worked. So instead of pivoting and moving on, AKME fell victim to the sunk-cost fallacy and decided to try and keep building around them and shocked the world by signing Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig.
The Vucevic trade was a sign that this team was finally making moves to compete and it has now killed our chances.
If anyone else gave up, you’re not alone
