I’m not saying he’s been bad, but he’s a HUGE part of why we’ve lost 3 straight. Blaming the O line when ONLY 2 other QBs have taken less sacks than Baker in the NFL. PFF has us ranked #2 in pass protection. Thursday we had only 1 drive over 50 yards (and we needed a 4th down facemask penalty to even get that). Week before it was the same, defense kept us in it until he throws a late ill-advised INT. Baker gets credit for his ‘moxy’ and ‘attitude’ which is fine, but the stats matter too. Our offense has been completely stagnant for 3 games straight. And yes, our running game is poor but it’s been like that. Since 2016 we’ve finished bottom 10 in rushing every year. I don’t recall that excuse for Fitz or Winston, and they had much worse O-lines and defense.

Baker has also never really had success in the NFL, minus a lone season with the #1 O-Line and #1 Rushing game (his career win % and career QBR are damn near equal to Jameis lol)

To reiterate, Baker has been a steal for us at his current salary and has been competitive, but I don’t get why he should be excused from his recent poor play. 3 total TDs in 3 games. Again, I’m going off stats, and I genuinely don’t understand why he gets a free pass

I think he hasn’t been criticized as much because most people expected this level of play. He’s a known quantity. In fact he’s actually been better than expected in some respects. Expectations were properly set and people only tend to single out those who play below expectations.

I think he’s also had the right attitude about his shortcomings and taken ownership of them. People are more willing to give a pass to someone who recognizes their own failures.
