In games Celtics shoot above 43.5%, they are 13-0. In games they shoot under that percentage, they are 0-4.
If the Celtics take on average 89 shots per game, that would equate to needing 39 shots made to pass this threshold.
If they take 43 3’s per game and make about 15 (34.8%)
Then as long as they shoot 24/46 (52.1%) from 2, that would get them to 39/89
This equates to 93 points, and if you add their average of 17 FTM per game, the Celtics should win the vast majority of their games when scoring 110+ points.
They have won all 9 games they have scored at least 110 points in regulation this season.
I think it’s more about the quality of shots the Celtics take. I know everyone wants to believe every shot we take is a good look but that’s simply not the case…
I for one am not a big fan of us living and dying by the 3. I don’t think its sustainable because every now and then you’re due for a bad shooting night. It just is what it is and you can’t soley rely on the long ball to win you games
We are at our absolute best when we play like we did last night vs Atlanta. That was one of best performances of the season. Seemed like the ball didn’t stick, guys were moving the ball and moving themselves. Making the extra pass. Looking to drive first and kicking it if the defense collapsed. As a result we get good quality looks.
We get in trouble when we fall in the trap of hero ball. Guys going iso. Dribbling the shot clock out and taking a desperate contested 3-point shot. You’re bailing the defense out at the point.
