Look, having been through the comics myself, I can agree that the shows adaptation isn’t faultless, but it’s a shame seeing how so much of the discourse this week is about the complaints people have for the way things have been delivered with the show this season.
No shade, but I hope the comic folks having a bad time at the moment learn to let go and just enjoy the show for what it is. Great casting, faithful recreation of the OG story- We’re so much luckier than the vast majority of comics fans getting the adaptation we are.
Peace and love, bring on the downvotes I guess 😅
I’mma be honest… I always thought both the comics and shows were fucking awful. IDK why Reddit thought this sub was good for me.
Props to them, honestly, for trying to address how violence informs conflict and what it means to use violence to change things but… This gritty depiction of what it takes to expose the flaws with violence by basically being brutally tortured and emasculated is not a good counterproposal.
The exact same thing happened in One Punch Man. There became a pretty big subset of webcomic purists that just hated anything and everything that changed in the manga.
Unfortunately it’s very natural when an adaptation like this happens. I read the comic and have been loving the show. I don’t even really see the complaints about the animation.
I just wish more people would let the show play out the rest of this season before they start deciding it’s “gone downhill”.
I think a lot of it is valid. I really enjoyed last week’s episode but it sucks that the comic did it so much better. I expected (maybe unnecessarily) something on par with what the show did to the Omni-Man vs Invincible fight but for the Thraxa fight.
I think people sometimes want their favorite lines/scenes adapted, while not realizing that the core story isnt changing. Like there has been a lot of discussion about the cool lines being removed >!from some Viltrumites on Thraxa!<, but I don’t really remember those lines, so to me they don’t matter. I think it’s important to keep the core story, and if it’s doing that, then it’s just a matter of preference. People want whole episodes dedicated to certain fights, but a comic functions different than a TV show.
Animation is shit! Aside from that the show is fine
As long as people keep it respectful/constructive (which most of it has been), I don’t see the harm in complaining. If anything, complaints can often lead to improvements.
Most of what I’ve seen complained about (pacing and animation being the top 2) are pretty fair.
Some are more subjective (Pronunciation of certain names and some minor character design changes) but those are usually presented as minor complaints, which is also fair.
Complaints lead to improvements when the creators hear them. No ones listening on reddit save for very special cases so i always found that argument moot
I’ve never read the comics (or any comics, actually) and I just love the show so much I’m considering getting them.
The only thing I will miss from the comic will be the characters from the Invincible universe (not the Image universe) that won´t appear due may be they have pottential to have different series. The other things are OK to me.
Comic and TV show are two different thing. The TV shows gives mores background to the Grayson drama… take it or leave it. I take it.
Some things are great to change. Like the “that’s so gay” jokes that are super dated. Other things like Nawl Ahn would take like 2 seconds of screen time and make the show significantly better. I’m not like punching drywall over it, but it is rather disappointing when easy things are done wrong.
Happens with everything new. Some people just can be really nit picky
I didn’t even realized people didn’t like the show
This sub hates anyone with an opinion. I love season 1 but honestly season 2 is a huge let down so far. Go ahead, fanboys, prove me right
IMO if you want it 100% accurate to the comics, then just go read the comics. It’s an adaptation, it’s going to be different and a lot of the changes they have made were actually improvements. I have enjoyed each episode.
