I just recently tried out moonlight on my new steam deck OLED and could not believe how well it worked. Full resolution, high frame rate, HDR all working perfectly without any input lag. It was 100% perfect on the dock when connected to ethernet and with my mesh network it worked about 95% perfectly with just intermittent hiccups.

However, with Cyber Monday deals going on I was looking into getting a switch that has five gigabit ports and two 2.5 gigabit ports. I was going to run one of those two ports to my computer and the other port to a 6E router in bridged mode.

However, I wasn’t really sure if this was the best route to go. I also considered perhaps getting a USB to 2.5 gigabit adapter and then having a 6E access point on that to somehow use Wi-Fi direct or to just directly stream data from PC to steam deck without any in between.

This may not be the right place to ask as it’s only loosely related to a steam deck, but I thought I’d give it a shot.

I haven’t tried Moonlight on the OLED, I’m excited to try it but what people have written is that HDR isn’t supported? It’s supposed to come sometime next year from what I’ve heard. Do you get the HDR badge in Gamescope next to the brightness slider?

I didn’t see a FPS meter because it’s streaming the game and not rendering it on the steam deck gpu. It shows the FPS meter I have running on my computer/source though.

That’s also how I knew HDR was working. I could compare it to my computer’s monitor as it runs it at the same time on screen. In fact you can even control the steam deck through the keyboard and mouse in the source computer.

I feel like HDR was running because side by side it looked similar and it’s definitely enabled on my computer. Was testing Doom Eternal, max settings, 3440x1440, 165fps, HDR and DLSS enabled… No input lag on the steam deck and it looked perfect and played great.
