I bought the original Steam Deck last year in August. One of the things that drove me nuts was how bad the Wi-Fi chip was. Downloads were 11MBps (MegaBytes per second), and the other thing was Streaming from Xbox Cloud was pointless. This was an issue on multiple Wi-Fi routers and internet services. I have Fiber 1Gbps service and use Eero Wi-Fi 6.
Fast forward to the OLED model and OMG it is what the original should have been. I download at 80MBps (MegaBytes per second) and Streaming from Xbox Cloud feels almost like it is native. I was playing Lies of P and could accurately time my attacks and dodges. Even Hi-Fi Rush was playable. Far less video artifacts too.
I will still hope one day we can have Native Xbox Game Pass on Linux, but changing the Wi-Fi Chip from Wifi 5 to Wifi 6E is a game changer in ways many might least expect. I wonder what other’s experience with PlayStation Remote Play and other Streaming Services has been.
