With the Panthers firing Frank Reich, I feel like a golden opportunity has just opened up. While his last two HC jobs weren’t a great success (not entirely his fault IMO), he’s an offensive minded coach with tons of experience. Should we try to land him as our new OC?

One thing about franks offense is that it’s very static and full of old concepts. It’s not modern, it’s not innovative, it’s not fresh. It’s hard in the modern nfl to run such an outdated offense. The other thing is the Frank has a clear type to match his old school offense. It’s a 6’5, 6’6” statue qb. Carson, foles, and rivers types. It’s part of the reason why Bryce has looked like a failure and the reason Frank wanted stroud in the draft. I’m just not sure Kenny fits that mold as he is somewhere in between, good height but not a giant, more mobile than a statue, and doesn’t have the processing abilities to sit back in such a static offense. I think Kenny is better suited for some thing more modern with movement and the ability to move around the backfield

    His offenses were never great.

He had one great season as an OC and the rest of his tenure as OC in various places were middling at best and outright bad at worst.

It wouldn’t hurt to interview him but I don’t think he’s the answer.

No. We need to stop bringing guys and giving them jobs after watching them fail elsewhere. If we’re going to externally hire let’s grab successful ones on their way up instead of unsuccessful on their way outta towners

My guess is that we won’t end up doing this (because it’s always a better bet to take the field).

But I think when we make an outside hire, it’s not uncommon for us to take a failed HC who was very good as an OC/DC.

Haley and LeBeau both fit this mold.
