We have Gus at RB1, and Mitchell/Hill splitting RB2 (with Mitchell slowly carving higher snap count %). Mitchell looked like he split RB1 role with Gus yesterday, but only time and consistency in his performance will tell if he’ll retain a RB1-type role later in the season. Gus’s contract is up this year, Hill is an UFA after next year, and Dobbins is an UFA after this year.

What would you like to see with our RB situation?

Personally, I’d like to see over this year and next: Mitchell at RB1, and Gus at RB2. I’d love to see us utilize Gus on the goal line, on short 3rd and 4th downs, as a rotation-and-relief guy, et cetera. I’d love to see us move to a two-man backfield instead of trying to shift between three and even four backs (we’ve seen Gus, Hill, Drake, Gordon, Mitchell, and Dobbins thus far). And I’d love to see the snap-count distribution for RB1/RB2 anywhere between 80/20 to 60/40, and then I’d love to see Mitchell getting 15-20 touches a game (like most RB1s in this league).
