Talking with some old LoL friends about playing the game years ago, and they are to this day really sad that 3v3 Twisted Treeline doesn’t exist anymore.
I remember having fun with Dominion myself, playing it more than Summoner’s Rift.
Do you guys think we’ll ever hit a moment where Riot reintroduces these old game modes? Or creates new permanent game modes beyond Summoners Rift and ARAM?
I feel like individual queues for them are completely out of the question. Having dedicated ranked queues for maps like Treeline and Crystal Scar are completely out of the question. But I feel like here’s how it could be done.
Allow for a ranked choice of queueing while also allowing for the choice of queueing for a specific map. That way, the amount of Rift people queueing with ranked choice are going to play is reduced and Rift-only players do not have to slog through maps they’re not going to enjoy.
Utilize single-rider queueing to fill in lobbies - especially in more unpopular maps.
Allow ranking from other maps (Especially Rift) to mildly affect the ranking of other maps. That way, a player’s general ranks should be overall similar so these scenarios don’t happen.
Diamond Rift players aren’t getting slotted into a Treeline lobby, and aren’t effectively solo winning purely from hands diffing. Rather, they get placed into a Platinum lobby so that they can learn how Treeline is played while also playing against players a bit worse than they are.
Iron Rift players don’t go off and terrorize a Silver lobby by solo-losing their team the game.
These are just some thoughts…
