While reading this, keep in mind the school I’ve been cut from has the best high school soccer program in my state and one of the best in the United States. I am currently a junior in high school and I’ve been playing soccer since I was around 7. I played goalkeeper for two years at school but never exactly liked it and this year a couple of new goalkeepers were brought in. I didn’t feel any competition and I thought my spot on the team was secure once again like the past two years but clearly not. More and more days went by and I kept realizing that I had to start doing better but I never had the motivation to, I started as a field player in my club and I loved it and I was good at it too, but when the coaches let me try out(beginning of this school year and as a field player) they only gave me a day and even the good performance didn’t convince them. They only saw me as a goalkeeper. So I kept playing goalkeeper and slowly that fire in me started dying because I just wasn’t feeling it as a goalkeeper anymore. I wanted to dribble and pass and assist and even score if I had the chance to. Two weeks ago the coaches told me that I was the worst goalkeeper out of all the goalkeepers in the program. This served as a warning that I understood but it still didn’t ignite anything in me to truly play as a goalkeeper, then they officially cut me. I still had hope for try outs and I was sure they’d let me try out as a field player, but today I went up to the coach to do my attendance for try outs, and all he said was “no”. I’m not sure what to feel but I sure have 0 idea on what to do because I’m very lost and confused. What do I do ?

I feel really bad for you. I thought schools had to let anyone try out, but I guess that depends on a lot of things. I hope someone can advise you.
