I’ll preface this by saying I love John Harbaugh. He’s been my coach for most of my NFL fandom life. He’s a classy motivated guy who cares passionately about the org. Probably 20 teams in the league would kill to have him.
That being said, he has consistent and obvious flaws that stop us from reaching our ultimate goal, the SB. EDC has given him an amazing roster and he has put together really good teams that haven’t achieved their goals. His game management and general feel in game is a disaster. He pees down his leg when things start to go wrong, and tries to get too cute when things are going right. I’m not sure what he brings that’s not better than the sum of his coordinators anymore. Even his specialty, ST, has been gross this year.
If we could get the bears two first round picks, likely going to be 1 and 2, it would be a no brainer. Take a special LT, Harrison Jr, or trade back with one to set up more picks. we could get some cheap special pieces that we never get a chance at by always finishing in the top half of the league. Young cheap players are how we can win on Lamar’s contract.
We could use the bye to install MacDonald, who seems to be a really special coach. I know biscotti has said before he has an age limit where he no longer wants to own the team, and that window is not long. He could really make a push in the next 4-5 years to finally get over the hump.
Lastly, I believe the Harbaughs already have the Chicago connection. Harbaugh could be a great stabilizer for them and knows how to use a young athletic qb. And he’s still young enough that he could stay there for a while and build another successful team like he did in Baltimore.
