Heyo, I am a programmer and game developer with a wide range of skills. I taught elementary stem for almost two years and parent teacher communication was the number one issue I found when dealing with student behavior, drive line organization and management, late pickups etc. I believe I can develop an app that would aid in things like this for small charter schools, and plan to begin development within the year. However, I have some questions about business practice, as I am inexperienced outside contract work.
I’ll be consulting a lawyer for all things legal and binding so no need to comment on those. I know about privacy laws with children and confidentiality so please also refrain from mentioning those :)
So my main question I have so far is this long-winded one: The app will likely result in tech illiteracy (guaranteed actually). One plan I have for this is a training program for the schools to use for parents, either via video, brochure, or one-on-one. Outside of that, on the spot support WILL be required. I want to create a set of scripts that I can hire a call center to process calls with, and give parents a way to speak with a person. If the scripts fail, they will either create a ticket for low urgency issues or forward the call to myself or whoever I pay as more specialized help. My question is, with an average of around 300 families and 30 teachers all potentially needing support at some point for this app, what would my expected cost be on a monthly or annual basis? Does anyone have experienced dealing with similar numbers and scenarios? I would appreciate insight where available. If no one here knows, do you know who I might talk to in order to determine the rates?
I live in the east US, but I am sure I will be hiring out of country for cheaper prices. I read that the Phillipines (spelling?) Offer cheap and friendly English support but obviously I have no idea of the legitimacy of that claim.
This is a long term venture so no hurry on answers. If someone is nice enough to offer me some advice I will be very grateful.
Thanks redditors ily
I’ve already done this, thanks. I have seen these apps and discussed with the principal about it, we agreed it would not work
