A quick historical analysis from a Payton/Brees era Who Dat realizing how good we had it and how bad things might just be. I know Dennis Allen had some poor rosters with the Raiders which contributed to his 20-44 career record, but I wanted to see what his record was with us and see where it compared to our franchise history. Here’s what I found:

Dennis Allen (2022-202?) 12-16 (0.429)

Jim Haslett (2000-2005) 45-51 (0.469)

It’s wild to me that strictly in terms of winning percent we’re currently in a worse position now than before Payton/Brees. Consulting ESPN’s FPI DA’s Saints are expected to finish the regular season at 9-8 which would be DA’s first winning season and bringing his Saints record to 16-18 (0.471) closely mirroring Haslett’s win percent.

I have seen some of the salary cap gurus say that the Saints can’t realistically move on from Carr till after next season so with that and a Haslett-ish record I highly suspect the Saints brass will allow one more season of this nonsense. Just wanted to put some numbers behind what everyone was already speculating

Jim haslett made the playoffs and won our first playoff game. He inherited a shit Ditka team. I disagree at this point.
