I’m confused. I thought Vrabes and Ran have been getting along fine? The things Ran said when he first got hired made it seem like they may not end up always see eye to eye, but they’re always gonna do their best to work together to ensure success. This article is making it seem like the polar opposite is happening and that the entire staff is falling apart???

Fuck jimmy morris, don’t give that sack of skin the clicks. Ultimately - there is smoke to this fire because rumors keep popping up all over the place. That said I think it’s an overwhelming likelihood Vrabel is here for years to come - this stuff happens.

Here’s what we can reasonably infer at this point (if asked I’ll throw some links in later, no time this am):

    1. Carthon was not vrabels first choice. He would’ve preferred to see cowden or ossenfort promoted.

    2. AAS built a weird structure of this relationship after firing jrob that in theory allows vrabel final roster control after the jrob fiasco but up until this point looks like two guys with no prior relationship fighting over a bone.

    3. It benefits vrabel for something like the bedard article to come out. Maybe he wants to leave, maybe he doesn’t, I don’t know - but either way it’s leverage he can use to get more something from AAS.

    4. Carthon by all accounts is more than qualified for the job he was given. That still doesn’t mean he was the top choice of either Vrabes or AAS. It would be human nature for someone in that position to have pride and maybe be difficult to work with for a time.

    5. We know vrabes is an incredible 1:1 communicator. Tbd on Ran. All of this shit makes me more concerned about AAS as owner than anything else - reeks of sneaky dysfunction.

I disagree about AAS being a concern. Firing Jrob due to AJB and then and vetoing the Henry trade has made me believe she is the most reliable piece to the puzzle and trust her decisions more than anyone else in the organization.

I’m also not concerned about Vrabel and Carthon’s relationship just based off Carthons comments he made when he was first hired in January. I personally think the whole article is bs and just more Patriots fans trying to will Vrabel going to New England into reality. Sure, Vrabel may be leveraging the rumors to get something out of it, but I am 100% sure that’s the most there is to it.

Given that AAS said she will make sure Vrabel is here for years to come, she will do everything in her power to accommodate for any dysfunction and make sure it’s made right. This would mean any dysfunction is not on her. Again, I trust her decisions more than anyone else in the organization atm.

        Couple things.

        - Yeah I don’t think anyone should be concerned about vrabel / carthons relationship to this point. But these things have come up multiple places multiple times - clearly there’s something to it.

        - I wouldn’t take introductory presser comments that seriously. What are they going to do? Say there will be difficult times and the sun won’t always be shining? No, that’s PR, not how working relationships actually work.

        - The guy who wrote the article is a credible reporter who’s covered the pats since 2010, he’s not some random Patriots fan. That said…someone in new england clearly wants this to happen. front offices leak things to reporters all the time…it’s more about considering who he got the info sourced from than who wrote it

        - AAS saying vrabel will be here for years to come is all well and good - but there is 100% enough smoke around this rn that you can’t take her at her word until we’re through the '24 coaching carosuel. She once stated emphatically that "mike malarkey will be our coach going forward, 8 whole days before firing him to hire vrabel.

Boston sports media is trying to will into existence Vrabel going to the Patriots. I live in New England so I hear it pretty regularly. This fan base has been living in the clouds for 20 years and now that they’re being forced down to earth again they’re kicking and screaming about it

Seems like wishful thinking when Belichick leaves so they could bring in one of the few successful head coaches with NE ties.
