Counterpoint: the only people who do that in my sphere are kids calling their helicopter parents on smart watches that already have gps ok them, or old folks who aren’t that comfortable typing or don’t care that others around them may not want to listen to them dictate a message.

I mean, they serve a purpose and I’m sure sight impaired people use it well…but I live in a country where in speak the language as a second, learning it lateer in life than is useful and goddamn if I don’t prefer texts I can clarify with a translation app.
