Mike Macdonald has been one the many shining stars of our team this year and has proven himself to be a very good and capable DC. There’s no doubt that he’s going to be one of the most sort after candidates for a head coaching job and deservedly so. My question is, if the only way to hold onto him is to offer him Harbaugh’s job, would you be willing to do that? Personally i think ownership values Harbaugh a lot and would choose him. Hopefully Macdonald like Ben Johnson in Detroit this last offseason, decides he likes what he has in Baltimore and decides to stay. What do you think?
We’ve lost a lot of coordinators to head coach vacancies. There is no way we would switch harbs for Macdonald next year. I could see the ravens offering the head coach job years down the road (like we did with edc), but if he gets poached this offseason, I feel like we would promote anthony weaver to DC and he will get poached in 2-3 years.
All im saying is we’ve had a lot of good DCs during Harbaughs tenure.
The league has seen countless good to great coordinators fail as head coaches. Not saying that Macdonald wouldn’t be a good head coach, Its just that they are significantly more difficult to find. I prefer to hold onto ours.
I’m not a fan of Harbaugh’s but one fact I can’t deny is that his rosters win games, regardless of the talent level. I mean, the fact that we weren’t 2-15 in 2021 shows that he’s doing something right. As his tenure approaches two decades, I think he’s probably earned the right to go on his own terms unless he does something unforgivable.
Harbaugh isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, Steve originally bough Harbaugh in to change the culture in the locker room, make them competitive every season and win a championship for Baltimore and he’s done all that ,not to mention he’s a players coach and well respected in the locker room, can you imagine getting rid of him after the current season we are having I doubt that goes over well with a lot of the players.
