Labour don’t want to lose those sweet sweet Brexit Labour voters who are already looking towards Reform.

You’ll not get progressive policies from Labour.

Except Labour, despite its name, would still be the left wing of capital. The left is better off leaving the party if it wants meaningful progress especially in the face of fascism.

The alternative here is Reform, at least where I live.

I’d be happy to vote Green, but not in the face of Farage getting in.

I don’t think the actual left can have any real say in UK politics until we get a better voting system. And that’s one of the reasons we can’t have one.

Labour also need to keep “the markets” (i.e. a few rich sociopaths who could severely tank the economy and usher in fascism or civil war if they ever felt the need to make their strength known) happy. So if Burnham doesn’t want to preside over hyper-austerity, he has to keep the most loathsome predators happy, while figuring out how to eke out marginal gains for the voters and how to spin them into something that feels more substantial.

I don’t know why Lib Dem voters think their party is progressive. Last time they got a sniff of anything they sided with the Tories.

That would require labour to actually implement some progressive policies, you know like a left-wing party should do. Historically they tend not to want to do that.
