My stepdad decided to get rid of his old watch collection and just cash in on it. It’s a nice collection worth over 150k, thing is we don’t know anyone who would buy a 35k watch. And we also would prefer not to pay a 30% commission on websites like farfetch. Are there better solutions ?

How many watches is it? 5 30k watches or one 30k watch and a bunch of 2-10k watches? If it’s the latter your best is probably going to be individual listings on sites like Chrono24 or /r/WatchExchange until someone takes the purchase; if it’s the first one I might look into high end auction houses and just take the small loss unless you want to be waiting forever.

    Whatcha got?

eBay is an ok place, the authenticity guarantee process protects you as a seller. Chrono24 less so

To offload them quick, go to a bigger watch dealer near you. For the most money, Chrono24 listing but make sure you take pictures and video when you send it and insure them. eBay also is a pathway with authentication process to eliminate risk.

r/watchexchange or Chrono24. Plenty of second-hand resellers will buy them, but of course you’ll get less money than you would by selling them directly.
