Got an oled deck for the wife and tested it out on my JSAUX dock (1st gen, bought when I got my LCD deck a year ago), and I noticed I was losing about 10FPS on all the games I tested on my TV. I never tested it much with my deck as I usually just do hand held. Anyone experiencing something similar? I have vsync disabled so that’s not it. Also the res is still 1200x800 while docked, but the performance drop seems to be at all resolutions tested. It seems like it should just repeat the exact performance on the TV because literally all settings are the same.
I saw another post that it could be the dock itself, and that I need to get a dock that allows 4k60 (even though the output res is 1200x800 - this apparently fixed it for others). But wanted to poll the audience and see if anyone was experiencing something similar.
I tested it on AC Odyssey, and frames dropped from around ~45 to 35, and Horizon Zero Dawn, with a similar drop while docked. Wondering if there is a solution that does not involve buying another dock.
Do you have FSR enabled? I think there’s a bug valve is fixing, this is probably software not hardware related.
So that’s another interesting question. I messed with FSR for quite awhile. On HZD, I turned FSR on in the menus as well as in the deck interface. Using the FSR deck interface and looking closely at menu text, it was definitely sharpening and upscaling.
However, when I had full performance information listed in the deck interface, it always said FSR OFF, regardless of whether I was in full screen, borderless, or windowed mode.
Either way, it still seems like docked performance should be identical regardless of whether FSR is on or off. In both cases (FSR on or off) there was still a 10 FPS frame drop while docked. Real weird.
