He played bad, even for his situation, I’m not defending his honor today. However, he got nothing from everyone minus Powell, even KoC. 1st play, everyone here bitches he can’t thrown deep, drops a 50y dime where our 1st rounder needs to make a first round pick play. He had 2 ugly picks, yes crucify him for those. What about the one off Addison facemask? And the other was a great play on defense and was 4th down, bad bounce, it is what it is. Hock running short of the sticks is Dobbs fault? Calling spread plays with no rb/te chips for protection is Dobbs fault? Our line got their asses whipped most of the night. Addison has breaks db’s ankles and stands less than foot from the sideline? Dobbs is not the long term answer, but expecting him put the team on his back is nuts. The bears had the best (or one of the best) running defenses, we can’t beat a high school team when everyone in the stadium knows that play is a pass, regardless our qb.
You can’t say “make the play” when he honestly should have never thrown it into double coverage and expected Addisons small ass to catch that. He made it look closer than it should have been. We all gasped at the game seeing him throw that into double.
The ball was thrown as good as it could be, Addison couldn’t hang on to it. Truly unbelievable comment.
I agree that people had elevated him to such an extreme after a couple of really good drives in his first few games that they were overlooking the pretty clear flaws/issues. There was a lot of echo chambery downvoting of anything that was even the least bit critical of Dobbs early performances.
I don’t think you can blame Addison for that out of bounds throw late in the game, though. It’s the QB’s job to lead the WR, and Addison had gotten open enough that he could be led inside comfortably by a QB with better deep ball accuracy. There wasn’t a safety inside that forced Dobbs to throw to the sideline.
Dobbs might still wind up starting the rest of the season, KOC might still view him as the best of a limited set of options. But that doesn’t mean Dobbs is a long term answer, which I think a lot of people were talking themselves into despite the pretty clear signs that he’s not a starting quality QB early on.
Dobbs is an awful passer. When teams force him to pass, he just won’t perform
He deserves criticism. He played pretty awful. It was one of the worst games I’ve seen a QB play
but I don’t hate the guy. Nobody is perfect and even great QB’s have bad games…but he isn’t a great QB
