It’s obvious: Rui + Gabe since the team is competent without them , then if reaves keeps developing as a playmaker I’d add dlo to get both Caruso n lavine . If not I’d add Prince n vet min to get close enough to zach contract . Means we don’t lose much. Also if trading away Dlo woukd have to speak to Bron that we need him running point with the starters : lavine can bring the ball up and pass it to him to save some energy . Zach is one of the best off ball scorers ; truly great shooter and great slasher . If it’s just Rui + Gabe as the base imo it’s a good deal ; if zach only cost 30m instead of 40m I’d be all over it. I don’t think people get how little impact Gabe n Rui returning have but if those guys were lavine instead it’s pretty big needle mover.

    Either ;

    Gabe + Rui + filler ( Prince + jhs ) = lavine ( don’t lose much )

Gabe + Rui + Dko + (1pick ?)= Lavine + Caruso ( lose some playmaking but not impossible to make work )

As a team we don’t attempt enough 3s or make em. We can get lavine to attempt like 10 3s a game ( if ham isn’t an awful coach he should do that). Lavine can also come off vsndo or cam or Hayes /AD screens which helps offset those guys weak shooting. Only question mark with this move is if reaves n Bron can handle playmaking ; if they can’t you don’t trade for Caruso by adding dko. Also carudo can bring the ball up.

Bron( (pg on offence , Caruso n lavine help bring ball up, pf helper on D)

    Caruso

    Lavine

Cam Reddish ( can be vando if spacing works nasty defence regardless with Caruso )

    AD

That’s the starters : we’d be like n1-3 defensively with 3 legit monster defensive players , Bron who’s still great when needed , and lavine is mostly average for a star guard and he’s still very athletic I gotta think he can do better defensively here if fully committed to winning which he seems to be for the lakers ( make sure of this prebtrsde ). Also having Bron AD lavine is a ton of real shot creation , lavine can pass albiet not great but 4 apg is far from awful he just doesn’t have team mates worth passing to in Chicago . Bron will run the offence eith Caruso n lavine handking a bit to help the load.

    Backups :

    Reaves ( pg 6th man)

Vando ( or cam depending )

Prince ( very adequate player still imo yes he’s not great but he’s like the C- version of 3nD)

Max Christie ( 3nD young hopefully grows more)

    Wood ; spacer

    Hayes ; Lob threat

Personally I rather like this team. Things to note; need to be comfortable relying on Bron n Reaves playmaking we have till January 15th to work that out . Don’t have a quality backup C but there really isn’t one out there. Need to be able to make Caruso and cam/vando work spacing wise or can’t play this . If you can’t n need playmaking you just get lavine . Both Rui + Gabe are not needle movers and they’re constantly injured team doesn’t need them or miss out on much ESPECIALLY because of how great Cam has been ; I hope his injury doesn’t effect him negatively. Watching a Cam Caruso AD Bron defebce woukd be 🥰. Caruso good at hustling for boards too. Also want to note having great scorers offsets the need for traditional playmakers , there’s no traditional playmaker pgs in the nba. Only hope we cp3 on buyout. Suns offence is nasty without a real pg. I’d only want cp3 tyoe to feed AD but it’s clear he might be happier as a third option and this let’s him focus on D n rebounding and takes offense load away .

They’re 7-3 over their last 10 while missing 4 rotation pieces. Too much media nonsense

Give up hope if you think AC or Lavine will help this team out as long as Ham is coaching.

You Austin Reaves Stans have to let it go he is not who you think he is. Any rational person would trade him for Lavine.

Reaves is a fan favorite, had a breakout season last year, and has a huge role for the Lakers right now.

But, honestly, trading an-- albeit productive-- role player (and current 6th man) for a 28-year-old prime star is a no-brainer.

This is a clear upgrade, and a massive one at that. Gives the Lakers a Big 3 and instantly elevates them as a contender (if it works).

    Not a Westbrook situation.

Westbrook was at the nadir of his career, had completely lost any shootong touch he might have had, and was just a blooper reel every night. Now, he was still good at certain things he’s always been great at, but he his weaknesses were even more pronounced. And, worst of all, no chemistry.

I would do it. I know Reaves is a fan favorite but Lavine is a major upgrade over him and Dlo combined.

I’ll be a Bulls fan if they pair Caruso and Reaves. Of course, Lakers is still my team but would be nice watching Reaves and Caruso together… hoping on the Lakers though.
