Hi, I drive a 2019 Mercedes GLC that I have to pay a subscription for in order to use the remote starter…I know most are doing this but I HATE it…not only bc I hate being “app dependent” but bc I notice that if the gas tank is less than half a tank, it will tell me that there is low fuel and cannot start. I NEVER had this issue when I used the Viper engine starters and had a simple remote to turn it on…
So, this may be a dumb question, but can I install my own remote starter over an existing one? Thanks Everyone
Not sure if this is applicable to your car but for my ford, I got a box installed in my car for a remote starter back in 2011. Got a little fob for it. No subscription or app needed. There has to be some third party system you can install to bypass the ignition remotely that doesn’t require a scamscription. Ask a local mechanic to see what options are available to you?

Wow. Mercedes Benz is really squeezing everything.
Who in the right mind is purchasing a Mercedes Benz and then paying an additional subscription to accelerate at it’s full potential. Shouldn’t the full potential come with the car? I hope this doesn’t gain momentum.
I think this is for EV Mercedes Benz but still:
"How much is Mercedes acceleration annual fee?
Mercedes-Benz had initially set the subscription at $1,200 per year, but now it’s been reduced a bit to a slightly-less-unreasonable rate. The automaker is also letting you pay a one-time fee of $1,950 on the EQE and $2,950 on the EQS to unlock the Acceleration Increase permanently. Apr 27, 2023 "
This is why I’ll be driving late 90s/early 2000s shitboxes until the day I die.
Remember you can just install an aftermarket one. And most integrate to your own OEM remote.
At some point it’ll become cheaper than paying for it every month. What is the app pricing like?
I agree about if you want a feature you have to pay a monthly fee crap - however - I have a Tesla model 3 - pretty much everything runs from my iPhone - heat - AC - locks - lights etc - but have to pay for high def maps and internet connection- probably a couple other things I don’t need - but for the money - any car purchase should include everything they sell you in the ads -
