Now if we kinda want to nitpick and say first full season, that would still go to Mahomes. But frankly who gives af at that point since that means superstar QB.
Last game tbh aside from some sacks felt like his most promising game this year. Or at least as far as “Hey this guy did amazing in the question mark”. He was doing fantastic for the most part in dealing with pressure, scrambling, making throws etc.
Yes his game vs the Bucs was his best, but I thought as far as upside goes. This game was the most promising one in terms of showing massive improvements in handling a listed weakness pre-draft which was handling pressure.
Not at day goes by that I think about how lucky we are
In an alternative timeline, we draft Bryce + Mingo like the Panthers.
Seriously. we really rebuilt the team in 2 years. This next off-season we should improve dramatically. Caserio is legit, he may speak word salad and uses misdirection but the man takes pride in his work. The first 2 years were hairy, but we are chillin.
I think the plan all along was to draft well and sign cheap FA’s during that time to build up Cal’s cash reserves.
The hope was to nail a QB and then go supernova in Free Agency.
That’s the plan I think Caserio pitched to Cal, anyways. Maybe he came close to losing it with fumbling the Coaching hires early but he white knuckled that shit and now it’s back on course
It’s fun to watch a team where three rookies are having an amazing season.
Before his first Opening Day start at QB, Mahomes already had a full season of tutelage under his belt at the side of Andy freakin’ Reid. He learned how to handle being in the NFL for a year before he had the pressure of a mid-season playoff race to deal with. He walked into a playoff caliber offense with established talent and a system that everyone already knew like the back of their hand. There is no comparison between what CJ is doing now vs. what Mahomes did in his first full season as QB.
