I feel like I saw him making a ton of plays the last couple of years but I haven’t seen much of him doing anything this year. I thought he might be the guy to take over for DD. I just looked at his stats for this year:

67 tackles, .5 sacks, 1 QB hit, 2 tackles for loss, 1 int (1 pass deflection), 0 forced fumbles (1 fumble recovery)

That seems pretty… below average? I mean there’s almost no splash plays in the stat line for him. With our run defense and inability to contain running QBs being such an issue this year, this seems like he’s majorly regressed to me.

For comparison the guy he replaced, Alex Anzalones stats this year in the same amount of games:

87 tackles, 3 sacks, 9 QB hits, 5 tackles for loss, 0 ints (5 pass deflections), 0 FF (1 fumble recovery).

Not saying Anzalone is better but doesn’t seem like Pete’s stuffing the stat sheet at all. Is he actually having a down year or is this just a collective failure from our defense?

I know our offense sucks hard but our defense has also looked shitty at times this year.

No. I barely notice him. Except when his man makes a catch. I would say to DA if you want to run 4 safeties run 4 safeties. Stop pussyfooting around and stop putting a LB out there and asking him to play like a safety.

Comparative to the league? Yes he’s having a bit of a down year.

Compared to the Saints D? He’s probably playing above average.
