Hi guys!
Has anyone applied for the Colombian Digital Nomad Visa and been requested to visit the consulate in their country?
I had to visit the London Consulate. I had a 15 min interview has anyone else had the same? I have more than triple the required income, business owner, full insurance for 18 months, valid passports (Dual National).
I really want this visa as I would like to stay for Atleast 1 year and rent a proper apartment not an Airbnb… 6 months personally isn’t enough to learn the language and immerse yourself in the culture and experience Colombia.
Has anyone had to do this interview, and how long was the outcome after?
Many thanks guys!
When I applied for the Colombian Digital Nomad Visa, I also had to visit the consulate for an interview. This seems to be a standard part of their process, particularly for applicants who want to stay for an extended period, like a year. My interview was quite straightforward and similar in length to yours, about 15 minutes. They asked about my income, the nature of my remote work, and my reasons for choosing Colombia.
I had prepared all my documents meticulously, which I believe helped streamline the process. After the interview, it took a few weeks to get the outcome. The wait can be a bit nerve-wracking, but from what I gathered, this timeline is pretty standard.
While you’re waiting for the visa process, and if you’re planning shorter stays before settling in Colombia, you might find Rebookify useful for finding temporary accommodation. They often have good deals, which can be helpful when you’re in transition. Good luck with your application! I found Colombia to be a wonderful place for digital nomads, especially for immersing in the culture and learning the language.I got the result today, they turned me down.
The man didn’t look at my documents just my passport.
Perhaps I should have printed them but they never stipulated this in the email.
He wasn’t a very nice immigration officer and I felt that he would reject me at his discretion. I had the top 5 star defaqto insurance, 5 times the required income per month, valid British and New Zealand passport, business owner and company ownership proof.
Just because they were on a laptop he didn’t want to see them.
I guess I will go for 3 months and then renew for another 3 months. I can’t apply again until 30th May. I have a feeling this applies to all other visas.
Quite annoying really because I also had to spend £200 to get to the consulate. They should have an appeal process like the U.K. or NZ and Australia.
Maybe they will realise next year that I only have legitimate interests. I haven’t visited Colombia before, and he was questioning me like why would I want to go on the DN visa if I haven’t visited the country before.
Super annoying, the other people were so lovely.
