Jim, you may be the Panthers HC next year lol

I’m a little concerned about the timing of these interviews. Certain people we can’t interview until after their season has ended. Which makes me worried that we will pass on a bunch of other guys to get someone like Ben johnson, but by the time he’s available for interview, all the other options may be gone. The alternative feels like quickly hiring anybody just to secure someone. But if we wait for Ben and he declines, we might end up with Jim LOL

If you watched the video, Smitty points out that he heard that Ben Johnson didn’t interview well last year and that was one of the big reasons he stayed in Detroit.

Another year to work on how to interview/prepare AND continue on the success they were building in DET is a solid move on his part. He is now bar none, one of the top candidates this cycle and might have his pick of a number of spots.

It sucks from a Panthers perspective that both Steichen and Johnson both interviewed poorly and Frank by all accounts interviewed really well.

From Teppers perspective I understand it. He got scared off by an inexperienced coach not panning out so he course corrected to experience and age. I still think the principle of young dynamic OC coaching is the right call he just needs to be better at identifying good interviewing and good fundamentals/leadership.

Yeah dude interviewed well cause he went from chillin on the couch to the interview and had tons of time to prepare. Steichen and Johnson were out there winning games.
