Hopefully this is an ok place for this question, thank you in advance for help.
The driver’s side lock on my Honda Fit has always had issues with getting stuck. Right now, the key goes about halfway into the lock and then gets stuck. From what I understood from the mechanic, the springs in the lock cylinder are wearing down. He suggested two options:
- Replace the whole cylinder with a new one, costs about $400 and I’d be using a different key for just the drivers side door
- Have the lock rebuilt by a locksmith (I’ve had this done 2 years ago by a different locksmith)
I was wondering if instead, it would be possible to get a remote key so that I could just unlock the doors without the key? The original owner of the car never purchased a remote key, so I’ve never had one. Is that a better solution than either of the options the mechanic suggested?
