Golden state owned the 14th pick and the 7th pick in the 2021 NBA draft. They selected Kuminga 7th overall. The 8th pick? Franz Wanger. They selected Moses Moody with the 14th pick. Two picks later Alperen Sengun was drafted. In 2020 they selected Wiseman over the likes of Lamelo. Not saying they’re stupid for drafting who they did because at the time it had merit. I’m just pointing to the fact that they could’ve had those players to help with this period but instead set themselves (probably) pretty far back with Kuminga, Moody, and not even wiseman anymore.
Between Chris Mullin and Steph Curry, we made the playoffs once, and that was a second round exit that fans still celebrate, because for so long, we had nothing else. I remember wishing they just gave us a winning team. That’s all I wanted. I didn’t dare ream of a single championship, let alone four. I didn’t even dream of a playoff team. I just wanted a winning team. 42 games. I just wanted to win more games than we lost.
