Outsider here, but I’m a Celtics fan so between Ainge/Hardy/Olynyk I’ve been following the Jazz somewhat closely during the rebuild. I love a lot of what the Jazz have done so far, but I have been somewhat puzzled by Dunn’s role on this team.

After putting together a pretty great stretch at the end of last season, Dunn has been relegated to the 6th guard role, behind George/Clarkson/THT/Sexton/Agbaji. I of course understand wanting to get young guys minutes on this team, especially George and Agbaji. But why exactly has Dunn been kicked so far down the depth chart? If anything, I would have guessed that Hardy would play him more in the front half of the season to see if they could get any assets back for him at the deadline, though I have read stories of him being a great vet presence. He has played great next to George and from things George has said, Dunn seems to be a real veteran leader to him.

I guess my question is whether or not you expect Dunn to crack back into the rotation for your team this season? Will one of the 5 guys ahead of him get moved, or do we expect things to continue like this? I can think of a few teams that would benefit from a backup PG like Dunn, so it feels like the Jazz could go many different directions from here.

I appreciate any discussion in advance!

He clearly hasn’t played well enough to justify the coaching staff giving him significant minutes. We are currently 6-11 and I can’t imagine how an increase in Dunn minutes would have improved our record.

I think the team is looking to move THT and or Sexton before moving Dunn into the rotation again

Dunn needs to be traded. Bottom line. Package him and another player with a pick and try to add some value.
