I am looking to buy a nice first watch for myself that I can wear outside of the workplace in my free time for daily activities. Asking in a previous post here, many have mentioned the Seiko Alpinist, but it just doesn’t make me as satisfied compared to these two due to their history.
This is the new smaller version of the lunar pilot which I tried on in person recently and looks quite nice on my 7 inch wrist. https://www.bulova.com/global/product/98K112.html?cgid=lunar-pilot
This is another that I strongly prefer, though there isn’t a place to try it on in person. Looking at people’s videos, this one to me visually looks more appealing. The downside i’ve read about is the customer service for this watch and the quality control which is why I’m hesitant. https://nivadagrenchenofficial.com/collections/super-antarctic/products/super-antarctic-91412b
I bought a Nivada recently and I’m enjoying it. I think they’re pretty underrated. Quality is good by my estimation. For the customer service, they’re shipped international from HK so for the US there was a customs form to fill out. Felt a bit sketchy but you don’t have to give your social security, just request a CBP number and confirm your name and shipping address. I got a call from CBP next day basically to see if I exist and then the watch came without issue.
what size is your wrist? also, i read about people complaining about the nivada super antarctic online coming defective and then getting ghosted by the company… have you had any issues with yours?
6.5 inch wrist.
My NG came with no issues. I’ve only interacted with customer service for that customs form and they were pretty responsive. Watch shipped fast and was only delayed about a day for customs.
thank you! I just ordered one. Did you have to pay import tax on it or just fill out the form?
