So, this is something that I have been curious about for a long time now. What makes one speaker so much better than another speaker? The way speakers are constructed are all very similar…. you have a magnet, you have a voice coil. There is a cone, a basket and you have some type of suspension material. (As well as dust cap). I understand that there is a difference in how much suspension or movement a speaker can make, and the enclosure absolutely makes a huge difference, but if you were to replace one speaker for another of lesser quality into the same enclosure, you can come out with very very different sounds. I understand that a subwoofer is completely different and requires much more movement than a standard mid range speaker and tweeters are completely different animals that are on their own. However, when you are comparing two mid range speakers of the same size, or two full range, drivers of the same size, what makes one so much more sensitive/better/responsive than the other?
