I get the excitement (and upside) for Hall but Mullens has never started a game as a Viking. Why do most fans discount him so fast?

If KOC likes him, there is probably a good reason. He’s also probably been mentored from Kirk for years now. In the few times I saw Mullens I didn’t think he looked bad.

I also think there is so much more to being a QB that you can’t learn in your rookie year. I think Mullens could very well give us the best chance of winning given that he is the most like Kirk. -and we have a serious chance at the playoffs.

Also, let’s all agree that both Dobbs, Hall, and Mullens give us a better chance to win than Mannion. Glad those games he started are behind us.

Mullens isn’t the future. Hall may or may not be. We need to find that out.

Just start the QB that will most likely win us games this season. None of these guys have any chance at being the long term option. Maybe Hall is marginally more likely than Mullens? I’d rather win a couple more games and lose a first round playoff game than mess around with whether Hall is our guy or not (almost certainly is not)

Honestly mainly fan service (it’s fun to see what the rookies got). I don’t actually expect him to be better than Mullens, nor do I want him to start if the coaches think Mullens has a better chance at getting us to the playoffs.

Upon your question, I decided to do a shallow-dive into Nick Mullens’ career so as to hypothesize an answer – and what I realized is that nothing jumps out at me. He seems to be a pretty damn accurate passer, especially given the inconsistent opportunities he’s had. He’s never had a full season in which to prove himself as a “starter”, and he’s only 27. It seems like the Vikings have stumbled into a wonderful problem to have.
