Saw this on a couple other teams subs and the answers were really cool. Thought we’d try it here

KJ waved to me when I was at Borders 24th st and Camelback.

I took a picture with Jason Kidd at Suns training camp at my high school.

I took a picture with Majerle when he was the coach for GCU.

I met Kelly Oubre at a basketball camp by younger brother was attending, it would have been before his freshman year at Kansas. He was showing no mercy and dunking on middle schoolers haha

Back in 1989 or so I was at ASU Student Rec Complex and saw Eddie Johnson and Dan Majerle playing pickup basketball.

I worked at a place Josh Jackson went to when he ditched a meet and greet. I had left by then, but I was texting old coworkers who were tickled about it. However, I did wait on several players bc my coworkers knew I was such a fan.

Shaq was hilarious, joked around and tried to valet one of those bicycle cart things that take people around old town. He was the only celebrity that ever drew a crowd around him (fine dining, most people “act like you’ve been there before”)

Marcin Gortat came in a lot, his wife or gf was Brazilian. First time I waited on him he asked for a double shot of whiskey with another double shot. He was joking, but I’d get that dude as many as he wants

Barbosa sadly was an asshole. Don’t meet your heroes type thing. He’d reserve a table an hour after we closed, so we’d have to throw away all the leftover steaks, wait around for an hour, and put ALL the steaks back on the grill before he came in, so everything was fresh and available. A lot of food was wasted when he’d leave. He basically acted like he owned the place and treated everyone like they were beneath him.

Vince Carter was awesome. I actually risked getting fired with them. Came in with his wife and sat away from everyone. I basically told him that I realized he was away from everyone for a reason, but I had to let him know I was a huge fan and really glad he was on the Suns. He was really chill and we talked about Gortat and the season. Yes this is cringe and unprofessional, I wouldn’t recommend someone else in my position to do that, but that was a risk I was willing to take lol.

Goran Dragic was awesome. He was in Houston at the time and came in during the offseason. He was still in the parking lot when I was leaving (so fair game unlike with VC lol), so me and a buddy got a pic with him. I told him we needed him and begged him back to Phoenix. I’d like to think I played a part in him coming back :P

I worked at the arena and on my first day security messed up and took me to the medical room where Book and Ayton were getting treated. Since I was in the wrong spot, no one came and got me (and frankly I wasn’t going to speak up lol) so I was standing around like an idiot. They offered me some power bars and Gatorade though lol. This was the year book hurt his wrist in the offseason so I got a little inside info before the news broke.

Miles Plumlee, he was an asshole. Just randomly ran into him with a friend at a car wash. My friend called out to him saying generic fan stuff, ‘hey it’s plumdog! Woohoo love you!’ He shot us a disgusted look and walked off without saying anything haha

Also waited on non suns, like ginobli and scola (pre-suns), and they were fine, nothing really to note with them. That’s all I remember! I was very grateful my coworkers would let me wait on the basketball players, most didn’t know who they were so if they were tall and looked rich, they’d look for me. Really fun time in my life.

Dan Majerle, Devin Booker, Kelly Oubre, Cedric Ceballos, TJ Warren, Mikal Bridges, Grant Hill, Tom Chambers. Maybe more! I’ve been fortunate.

My stepmom is from Idaho, like total Hicksville. She had some uncle visit, dude was a wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots, all of it. They ran into Chuck at some bar and Chuck talked to the guy for like 45 minutes. Total & complete cultural differences

When I was in college I had taken my gf at the time to Sky Harbor and parked up on top of one of the big spiral parking garages to walk her in to security.

When I was walking back to my car in the structure, this guy is walking towards me, and I’m thinking to myself, “That dude looks just like Dan Majerle.” As he got closer it absolutely IS Thunder Dan, and I get kinda star struck and make this face “😲” and point at him, and he goes, “Yup!” and gives me finger guns and that was one of the best days of my life.

I also waited on Sarver (and a grip of the Suns’ owners group) during the playoffs when I lived in LA and we were playing the Lakers. Unfortunately he was pretty mild mannered (I was hoping he was going to be a dick so I could hate him more). Tim Kempton was sloshed at the bar but I didn’t meet him.

Met KJ at a basketball camp when I was younger. He was pleasant enough.

Oh, also met Steve Kerr when I was wasted at a Suns/Clippers game in LA when he was still GM’ing and got a picture with him where he’s scowling at me. I treasure that greatly.

Maurice Lucas, Larry Nance, Walt Davis, Alvan Adams, Connie Hawkins, Tom Chambers, Tim Kempton, Elliot Perry, Todd Day, Charles Barkley, Dan Majerle, Channing Frye, Jeff Hornacek, Shawn Marion, Steven Hunter, Shaq, Jared Dudley, Amare Stoudemire, Al McCoy. Probably more that I can’t remember off the top of my head.

I worked at the arena and hundreds of games for 7 years during the Nash years from 2005 to 2012. Met them all. Legends. Best was Barkley at Majerles after Colangelo was inducted into the ring of honor. I tried to shake his hand but instead got a hug and a butt slap at different points of the night. When I shook Shaqs hand, he shook my entire forearm, fingers were almost to my elbow and I’m 6’5!

Took care of Scott Williams in the hospital. Alvin Gentry too. I’ve met so many athletes and other celebrities working at the events or just at hospitals in Scottsdale.

Delivered pizza to Danny Manning’s house and Jason Kidd’s apartment. Saw Cedric Ceballos and Charles Barkley during the ASG festivities in 95. Saw Dan Majerle at…Majerles. 99.99% sure I saw Al McCoy at Sprouts a couple years ago.
