This is just a reminder that we are now in flex scheduling territory. Weeks 12-17 the NFL and its broadcast partners can basically agree to do whatever the fuck they want so long as they give the clubs involved 12 days notice.
I think it is not too late for us to lose our MNF game (Titans @ Fins) but we will likely gain 1 or as many as all 3 more games in primetime (Cowboys, Ravens, Bills) to close out the season.
Peter King recently interviewed Mike North, NFL VP of Broadcast Planning about the ins and outs of flexing. Starts about the 12:30 mark.
CBS and FOX can choose to protect certain games.
Cowboys Dolphins on DEC 24 is in the FOX 4:25 PM national window - almost 100% certain FOX will protect that game from being flexed.
Dolphins Ravens on DEC 31 is a 1:00 PM kickoff. Bengals - Chiefs is in the CBS 4:25 PM national window. It wouldn’t surprise me with Burrow’s injury that those two games swap kickoff times. It’s also possible for our game to get flexed all the way to SNF especially if we both keep winning.
Dolphins Bills has a shot too but if we have the division in hand by then (hopefully), I doubt this gets flexed. The SNF game will probably be a winner take all game to get into the playoffs.
I think the Bills will be fighting for the 7 seed week 18 and we will be playing for the 1 or 2 and so they might flex it under those conditions.
