2016 Mazda CX-5 front wheel drive. Nail is located right at the edge where it’s still flat. Can this be repaired, or will I have to purchase a new set of tires? If so, can I just get away with purchasing 2 tires?

You won’t find a big national chain tire shop that will patch it.
Personally if it goes through the tread and not into the sidewall, I might try to patch it myself and see how it goes.
I would prefer to move it to the back. if it gives me trouble or starts to leak again, I would replace. I also wouldn’t run it until it wears down to the nth degree.
