Dane Brugler has the Chiefs taking Patrick Paul, OT, Houston at pick 29 in his very first mock draft of the season. Thoughts on this from everyone? I think I would rather see the Chiefs trade away their first for an established #1 receiver, or even a strong #2 (Waddle, Higgins) than go with a first round late gamble on a tackle.
I don’t see us going tackle in the first.
Morris, in limited reps, has looked good, and can hopefully take over the starting LT spot.
I know Patrick is great t avoiding sacks, but really feel like on the whole the o-line has been really good this year. Mahomes often seems to have plenty of time in the pocket, or has good exits to scramble through. It’s just that our WR corps has been so shit he has no one to throw to.
If we just had a league average WR room, we’d likely be pasting teams.
Like others have said, I’d want a WR.
That said, when it comes to OL, I think it can be kind of like FAU, where we could be in a place that we don’t need a day 1 starter on the OL. Perhaps Reid and Heck think that Morris can fill in as a starter next year in which case they might want a vet backup, and also draft someone in a mid-round.
Rather go WR in the first and second
I doubt we’d go tackle here. They drafted Wanya Morris to be the long term solution and he looked solid in his limited game reps.
At the end of the 1st round it really just depends on who is on the board. I would not be shocked to see Veach make a big swing at receiver though, given how our group is struggling this year outside of Rashee and Travis seems very likely to retire soon.
