Injured (also Suspended) Squad
PG Morant
SG Kennard
SF Aldama
PF Clarke
C Adams
Healthy Squad
PG Smart
SG Bane
SF Williams
PF Jackson Jr
C Tillman
I personally take the Injured Squad
The injured squad has elite playmaking and rebounding with sufficient defense. Our current squad has almost no real playmaking abilities and no rebounding with exceptional rim protection but still lacks perimeter defense.from anyone other than Smart.
Sufficient defense is probably overstating it - would definitely be an issue for them. You mention perimeter defense for the starters but who’s guarding the perimeter for the injured squad?
Dominating the second chance points battle would probably neutralize that though.
This would be a really fun practice/scrimmage to watch if everyone were healthy.
Injured team has dynamic all-star at point guard, good shooters at the wings, and good rebounders down low. They lack shooting overall though and if anyone but Ja is playmaking the shooting off ball becomes even worse. They’ll collect a lot of their own misses but the paint might be packed.
Healthy squads biggest issue is that one of the two primary ball handlers has no continuity with the team. An issue that injured squad doesn’t have, Luke can shoot from anywhere. One of the biggest reasons they’ve struggled the first three games of the season IMO. Defense should be solid, but rebounding will still be an issue. Bane should have a big advantage over Luke on the offensive end. Luke will probably have him running defensively though.
Tough one, ultimately I think I go injured squad for now. If we look 20 games from now I probably take healthy squad. Smart will be used to playing with the guys/finding their spots by then.
I just want to say that I now want to see Santi get some time playing wing just to see how well he’d do.
I’ll take the Injured team. You ride or die with the superstar.
Given that they’re recovering from leg injuries, I think BC and Adams would get dominated by Jaren and X, and Kennard is going to have a tough time if he’s playing concussed. I’ll take the healthy team.
Morant is my least favorite player on the injured squad, not because he’s not good, I just think he’s overrated compared to our depth. He’s one of the best PGs in the league I just personally prefer Smart’s more defensive approach to PG work, I’ve loved what I’ve seen from him so far. I’m a massive Jaren Jackson Jr fan but I’m probably a bigger Stephen Adams fan. Before Bane started jacking shots up this season he would’ve pushed the healthy squad over the edge for me easy, but I’m catching myself giving a good look at the injured squad… but, watching how well Tillman defended Joker despite our loss, I’m taking the healthy squad and hoping Bane goes back to shooting wide open 3s accurately.
