Hi, friends! I recently moved to Pittsburgh to take a job as a history professor at Pitt. I’ve never lived somewhere with an NFL team, and I figured I’d finally have someone to root for so I may casually and gradually get into supporting the Steelers.
The thing is it has not been gradual or casual. I’ve fallen in love hard. And of course, I came into the community at a time when the team isn’t the best in the league, but man, the Steelers community makes it easy to be a fan of this team: a historically iconic franchise, of course, but also good, passionate, kind, wonderful fans who embrace the working-class character of the city.
It’s fun to be part of this group of people, and I look forward to raising my two little boys to be lifelong fans of this team! Thanks for letting me one of yinz!
I was a professor at Pitt until 2021 and moved to CA. I watch only Steelers game here.
Nice! Where in CA? I grew up in the Central Valley.
all you need to know is that Jesse James caught that fuckin ball
Welcome, my friend. Get ready for some new hypertension!
I got tickets for the Pats game if you’re interested.
