We lived through this with the Ford’s and the Lions. I think this is on ownership. The franchise is bereft of accountability and leadership with no plan or infrastructure to find a way out.

Most NBA teams are treated like the serious, strategic endeavor they are. In appearances and performance the team is merely Gores’ plaything. There’s nepotism in big roles, no player development and it’s impossible to even order from the team store.

I like all our players. The hiring of Monty seemed like Troy wasn’t able to make HIS decision. I like Monty and know it’s a tough job but it seemed like Gores stepped in and threw money at the biggest name.

Nothing about this team is functional. That level of organizational failure is on executive leadership. The majority of owners are shrewd business people. Gores extorted prisoners and their families. I find it unethical but it’s also a kind of new business w/ government connection so there wasn’t even a need for excellent operations.

I don’t think Gores has the skills necessary to steward a successful franchise. I believe the Pistons will be evidence of that as long as he owns them. I lived through this exact scenario and know it when I see it.
