Some of you may have responded to a post I had to delete due to my negligence regarding personal information visible in photos. In short: I fell asleep and rocked my recliner chair onto my LCD Steam Deck, destroying the screen. I hadn’t decided upon my course of action, but my family responded to the news by suggesting the same thing that many of you did:
“Good excuse to buy the new one.”

So, we verified that our finances could handle it, and I ordered the Legendary Edition because it wasn’t much more than the regular 1TB. It came today and I played my first game as a test: LEGO Marvel Superheroes. As I flew throughout the miniature New York with Iron Man, I noticed something in the bottom-right of the screen.

A singular Dead pixel.

I lost the screen lottery. Fs in chat. Hopefully the RMA process is fast.

As for my old Deck, I swapped the SSD with my Surface Tablet going from 128gb to 512gb and funnily enough, the Deck boots to the old Windows install. So, I’m going to try out using it as a media server for our home. I just need a dock to hook it up to a monitor, mouse, keyboard, and the media storage drives. I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work, but at worst I just end up with a dock, right?

Do all docks power the Deck or are some just video pass-through?
