Yes yes, I know the answer is that Gute will do nothing like he always does, but what SHOULD happen?
For me, I think we should sell Aaron Jones. We barely use him as it is now. Even though he’s the much better RB we’ve decided that AJ Dillon is the lead back now for… some reason. He’s also one of the bigger contracts we have on the team and will likely not be a star for us anymore once we’re able to be good again. I see potential trade partners to be the Bengals or Cowboys depending on the CAP situation. Instead of waiting and cutting him in the offseason like Gute will probably do we should try to get something for him
I also think we should see what we can get for Rashan Gary. There’s always going to be a market for an extra pass rusher and a better DC could probably scheme him into something where he’s not forced to defend the run as much. He’s also going to ask for a ton of money in the offseason and for someone who is as bad against the run as he is, it probably isn’t worth bringing him back next year on a big contract when we’re a number of seasons away from being good again now anyways. For playoff teams who could use him, the Jags are a likely playoff team but are currently in the bottom 5 in the league for sacks. Once again, instead of just letting him walk we should get something in return.
Finally, we should put Jaire Alexander and Rasul Douglas on the market. Everyone wants an extra DB, and there’s some contenders who could use some in particular. The Eagles have a need for a CB, they’ve given up the 4th most receiving TDs this season.
Who else should we trade? And who actually gets traded?(Nobody will, I know. We can dream though)
