Late 2019. Ah, it was a good year. No pandemic. No supply chain issues. Automotive loan interest rates and mortgage rates in the mid to high 2% range. Easy access to business loans and credit in general. Little inflation.
Late 2023? Four years later, the Cybertruck will finally begin its production ramp. Supply chain is still a mess. Flipping a new EV for profit is dead. Automotive loan interest rates at 8+%. Mortgage rates nearing 7%. Business credit dried up. Economic uncertainty. Inflation. And the Rivian R1T, Ford Lightning EV, Hummer SUT EV, and Silverado EV have all beaten the Cybertruck to market. On top of that, all indications are that many of the features and specs hyped at the CT’s reveal will not make it to the final production version.
